Getting around campus

The University may boast world-class facilities and award-winning buildings, but they’re not much use if you don’t know how to get to them.

While we are proud of our campuses, we also appreciate they are large and can be tricky to navigate.

So we have a range of ways to help you find – and get to – wherever you’re going.

Campus maps

Knowing the location of your next lecture isn’t much help if you don’t actually know where you are. Then there’s the issue of getting to the right building but not knowing how to find the room you’re supposed to be in.

Pick Up/Drop Off Zones

Across Callaghan campus, there are 9 dedicated Pick Up/Drop Off zones which are clearly marked and easy to find.

These zones have been shared with local taxi companies and Uber so they are familiar with the locations of these meeting points too.Pick Up/Drop off zones are for short stay events only and the driver should not leave the car.

Go here to find the Pick Up/Drop Off zones map.

Express Zones

Our Express bays at Callaghan are 20-minute parking bays made to make your trip to campus more convenient and stress-free. You might be grabbing a coffee, returning a library book or dropping your child into one of the childcare centres across campus.

MazeMap

MazeMap provides detailed maps of the University’s campuses, including the location of lecture theatres, tutorial rooms, computer labs and toilets. It also shows you the nearest bus stops, university services, sporting venues, shops, food outlets, coffee, vending machines, water bubblers and free microwaves!

Using its inbuilt GPS technology, you can easily locate yourself on campus, then use MazeMap to show you both where your next class is and how best to get there.

MazeMap is available as a free app for both iOS and Android, or you can simply access the maps using your browser of choice.

Signage

Across our campuses, there is wayfinding signage both in solid and digital format.

There is also building directional signage within NUspace, with room locations beside the lifts on each floor. Located on the ground floor, adjacent to the escalators, is a digital information kiosk to assist you.

In addition, the MazeMap Wayfinding app is available on the NUspace app for easy navigation to any room or point of interest. The MazeMap Wayfinding app will cover other buildings including University House, The Conservatorium and Northumberland House.
