Student leadership and representation
One of the best ways to gain first-hand knowledge about formal leadership, teamwork and the importance of compromise is by being involved as a student representative or leader.
In fact, gaining experience in student governance has been shown to benefit both your potential job placement as well as your studies. Importantly it’s also a chance for you to have a say and effect change on the issues that matter to you and other students.
Most student representatives serve for a period of one year from 1 January to 31 December and there are a range of positions available on University Council, Academic Senate, UNSA (the student association), College and School Boards as well as a range of other committees across the University.
