Study spaces
Whether you need a quiet place to focus and hit the books, or are looking for a room where you can have a lively discussion for a group assignment, our campuses have a variety of spaces for your study requirements – whatever the time of day or night.
Rooms
The libraries have silent, quiet and group study rooms available, with different levels of noise and interaction allowed in each.
Secret Spaces in the University of Newcastle Library
After hours
Areas of the libraries at Callaghan and Central Coast, as well as parts of NeW Space, are accessible 24 hours a day, offering group study facilities, as well as places to prepare food and drink.
You can access these areas by simply swiping your student card.
To access other buildings outside the University’s hours of 7am and 9pm weekdays, or on weekends, you will need to apply by filling in the after-hours access notification form.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
