The Library and Academic Skills Tool (LAST) is a short online check of academic, library and information literacies. You can use it to identify your strengths and opportunities for development.
LAST is located in Canvas and gives you immediate feedback as well as guidance on library and academic skills services to help you succeed.

What does LAST assess?
The assessment uses authentic university-style tasks covering:
- Selecting and evaluating information sources
- Understanding and interpreting academic texts
- Drawing inferences from evidence
- Answering academic questions effectively
- Coherence and logical flow in writing
- Referencing and citation practices
- Information literacy and research skills
- Responsible use of artificial intelligence and digital tools.
Immediate feedback and support
At the end of the evaluation you will get immediate feedback on individual skill areas together with recommendations for further development. Feedback includes links to self-paced resources, workshops, consultations with Learning Advisors, Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), and Library support services.

Eligible students will see the Library and Academic Skills Tool in Canvas. The assessment can be launched directly from the Canvas course site.
Most students complete LAST in approximately 30–40 minutes.
Students should aim to complete the assessment in a single sitting to ensure results accurately reflect their current skill level.
No. LAST is a diagnostic and developmental assessment. Results are used only to provide feedback and recommendations for support.
