School of Education — Teaching Transitions Program

The Teaching Transitions program supports domestic and international Education students in preparing for the physical, psychological, and professional demands of the teaching profession. It offers tailored academic and social support, focusing on two key areas:

  • Teaching performance skills (e.g., presentation, voice projection, and classroom presence)
  • Physical and mental self-care strategies (e.g., resilience, wellbeing, work-life balance, negotiation, and conflict resolution)

Since January to March 2025, the program plans to deliver modular presentations, online resources, and interactive workshops, including real-time and simulation-based activities. It aims to equip up to 2,000 initial teacher education (ITE) students (both undergraduate and postgraduate, including HDR) with practical, career-ready skills.

Collaborating with CHSF, CMHW, and external providers, the initiative is progressing well with no identified blockers. Evaluation will be carried out through student engagement tracking, surveys, and feedback, and resources will be initially hosted on the School of Education Canvas site.

Overall, the program is designed to help Education students navigate professional experience placements confidently and transition successfully into the workforce.
