International Student Support — Onboarding, Engagement, and Accommodation

The International Student Support (ISS) program ensures a smooth and welcoming experience for new international students while meeting the University’s ESOS compliance obligations. Across January–March 2025, approximately 1,200 new international students were welcomed through activities such as city walking tours, paint and sip workshops, surf lessons, program and enrolment sessions, and Sydney campus events. These activities helped students build social connections, understand visa and safety requirements, and feel supported in their new environment.

The airport transfer service supported 300 students, ensuring safe transport from the airport to their first accommodation. Meanwhile, the Accommodation Support Officer assisted both international and domestic students through online, in-person, and workshop-based support, helping them secure safe and affordable housing and reducing accommodation-related stress.

Specialist International Student Support Officers provided complex case management, compliance advice, and onboarding support across all campuses and study levels, helping navigate the changing international education landscape.

ISS successfully partnered with programs like NUMates to deliver engagement activities. Overall, the program has strengthened student experience, improved access to services, and enhanced wellbeing through targeted, culturally informed, and practical support.
