New CTL teaching qualifications on the horizon

Student operating industrial drill with iPad mounted as an aide Academic developers at CTL are currently developing two new certificates to further develop the skills of teachers at UoN. The Certificate in Assessment Design has been designed to meet the practical needs of academic staff and accommodate challenging work schedules, while promoting best practice in assessment design. The aim of the second certificate is to orient sessional staff, including tutors, lab assistants, conjoint staff and PhD students, to teaching in the university setting. Both certificate programs will begin in 2014.

New Faculty Orientation and Teaching Essentials 2014

CTL plays an integral part inducting and supporting all UoN teaching staff, so they can deliver world-class educational experiences. Our orientation programs help familiarise new academic staff members with UoN’s unique learning environment and provide valuable opportunities for professional development, networking and collegiality. UoN teachers: Top of the class

The Centre for Teaching and Learning joins with the wider UoN community to congratulate five University of Newcastle teaching staff who have been recognised by the Office for Learning and Teaching and awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
"At a time when our University’s national teaching rankings are on the rise, it is particularly rewarding to see so many of our excellent university teachers publically acknowledged on the national stage” said Prof Carol Miles, Director, Centre for Teaching and Learning.
