Description
The Graduate Certificate in Environmental and Business Management provides a unique combination of environmentally focused courses with management and business skills that can be applied in the corporate arena. The program focuses on environmental professional development in the areas of sustainability and environmental management. To complement this, the program includes a business management component with focus in key business areas such as organisational behaviour, project planning, marketing and commercialism. With the growth in importance of environmental management and sustainability in the business sector, a greater number of people in the near future will require a combination of environmental and business skills.
This unique program offers a wide range of courses of interest to students from diverse backgrounds. Applications are encouraged from candidates with a wide range of science, natural resource, engineering and business backgrounds.
Please note that students who commence in Trimester 1 or 2 can complete the program in a minimum of three trimesters. Students who commence the program in Trimester 3 can complete the program in a minimum of two trimesters.
Program learning outcomes
On successful completion of the program students will have:
- Apply knowledge and skills in environmental and business management across a range of contexts for ethical professional practice
- Review, analyse and synthesize information that demonstrates the cross-disciplinary links between business and the environment as they apply to professional practice or highly skilled work
- Provide technical and creative solutions to environmental problems in a business context using an evidence-based approach
- Interpret, justify and communicate combined concepts of environmental and business management , theoretical propositions, and methodologies to a variety of specialist or non-specialist audiences
- Initiate, plan and implement projects that combine elements of environmental management and business management both autonomously and as part of a team using an adaptive management framework

Admission information
Admission requirements
Students with an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree or an AQF Level 8 Bachelor Honours degree are eligible for admission to the program. In special circumstances, an applicant holding other acceptable academic or professional qualifications and relevant work experience may be admitted as a candidate for the program.
English Language Requirements
All Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the University’s English proficiency requirement. Further information regarding English language proficiency requirements can be found at the English Language Proficiency for Admission Policy here.

Credit transfer
If you wish to apply for credit for studies completed at another institution, or if you are changing programs within the University and wish to transfer your credit to the new program, visit the University's credit website for more information on applying for credit.
Credit may be granted for coursework courses if they can be demonstrated to be directly equivalent in terms of content and depth of study to the corresponding courses in the Environmental and Business Management program. Credit will be granted in accordance with the Postgraduate Coursework Awards and Programs Schedule.

Students are required to complete a total of, but no more than, 40 units, comprised of the following:
- 20 units of core courses
- 10 units of courses chosen from Course List A
- 10 units of courses chosen from Course List B

Through the Pathways and Academic Learning Support Centre, students can access a free suite of NUPrep preparation courses as well as Academic Learning Support.
