All users are required to complete a safety and facility familiarisation induction before commencing any work in the ABRF. This induction is separate, and must be completed prior, to any training on instruments and other equipment found in the ABRF.
Inductions and training can only be carried out by ABRF staff. Further, users are not permitted to induct and/or train other users nor perform analyses for other persons. At all times users are required to follow any directions given by ABRF staff.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are maintained by the ABRF staff for all instruments and other equipment in addition to general facility procedures.
The ABRF primarily provides an instrument service and possesses basic sample preparation facilities. Sample preparation should be conducted in your own laboratory with prepared samples ready for analysis brought to the ABRF. Any user wishing to perform sample preparation within the ABRF facility must discuss their needs with ABRF staff. As part of our service to users, ABRF staff can provide technical advice regarding sample preparation and associated equipment needs.
Additionally, the ABRF has limited storage capability for samples, chemicals, and reagents etc. Consequently, any storage of such items in the ABRF must be discussed first with ABRF staff. Unauthorised items may be removed and discarded if found.
Code of conduct
All authorised users of ABRF equipment must follow the facility's Code of Conduct. All users must report faults, damages, breakages, spillages and any other safety and equipment problems immediately to ABRF staff. Any disputes are to be referred to ABRF staff for resolution.
Users who fail to comply may be excluded from the facility and/or face disciplinary action.
For further information regarding ABRF safety procedures and the code of conduct, please contact the ABRF Unit.
