Simply Cups - Coffee Cup recycling program
A University waste audit found that coffee cups account for 3% of general waste and 2% of recycling. The best and most sustainable option for your daily caffeine dose is to bring your own cup!
In addition, The University has collaborated with Simply Cups to recycle disposable coffee cups and divert them from landfill. These recycled cups are then used to make reusable coffee cups – the rCup – a world first reusable coffee cup made from recycled coffee cups, as well as a range of other products.
Since the program was introduced in 2019, we have recycled over 81,000 disposable coffee cups!
The Simply Cup recycling stations are located at:
Callaghan | City | Central Coast |

Not near a Simply Cups recycling station when you finish your drink?
That’s okay! Separate your cup and lid, then put the lid in the yellow recycling bin and the cup in the red landfill bin. That way you are recycling the lid and not contaminating the recycling waste with a cup that cannot be recycled.
