Located right in Newcastle’s CBD, Q Building boasts inspiring architecturally designed spaces that capture breathtaking views of the Harbour and the surrounding city landscape. Harnessing the latest in technology and innovation, our venue spaces are ideal for a range of corporate events including board meetings, team workshops, and conferences, as well as cocktail events.
Q Building has a range of flexible spaces available for venue hire by any individual or organisation external to the University of Newcastle. For internal bookings by University staff please go to this webpage.

Event Space (Ground Floor)
Event Space (shaded grey) has direct access to Worth Place and Honeysuckle Drive with lots of natural light. Event Space is perfect for medium to large-sized events including presentations, workshops, and networking events. The built-in tiered seating holds up to 40 people.
Up to three additional annexe spaces can be added to an Event Space booking outside of business hours (M-F, 9AM-5PM). Requests for use of annexe spaces during business hours will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Seminar Space (Level 2)
Seminar Space can be configured as a single, double or triple space. Seminar Space is perfect for small to large-sized events including meetings, presentations, workshops, classes, and networking events.
Seminar Space Q212 includes a kitchenette facility in the Breakout that includes a Bili tap (instant hot and cold water), microwave, catering fridge, and dishwasher.

Boardroom (Level 3)
The Boardroom is perfect for small to large-sized meetings with panoramic views of NUspace and Anzac Walk. It includes dual 55" high-definition LED presentation screens and a ceiling-mounted microphone for Zoom-enabled hybrid meetings. Access to tea and coffee-making facilities are also included.

The Boardroom seats up to 14 people.
Meeting Rooms
Our Meeting Rooms are ideal for small team meetings with street and city views of Honeysuckle and Newcastle West. Both include high-definition LED presentation screens and ceiling-mounted microphones for Zoom-enabled hybrid meetings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Please enquire about the furniture included in the venue hire application as availability will vary depending on other bookings at the time. Additional furniture requirements can be coordinated directly between you and a preferred supplier at the your expense. Preferred suppliers include Exotic Lily Events and Newcastle Event Hire.
Our in house caterer NuServices catering can meet your food and beverage needs with breakfast, lunch and canape menus or you are welcome to use your usual caterer. There is a café located in the building serving coffee, toasties and pastries suitable for smaller meetings. There is a small warming oven, fridge and hot/cold zip tap and sink in the seminar rooms.
All spaces include presentation screens that use Zoom or Microsoft Teams for wireless connection from a laptop. Handheld and lapel microphones are available for Event and Seminar Space.
For any external bookings, please contact venuesandevents@newcastle.edu.au to organise a run-through of AV. HDMI and live streaming connections can be coordinated with the assistance of a preferred supplier. Should you require this, our preferred suppliers include Fordtronic AV and Scion Audio.
Should you require a space to be set up in a specific layout, you will need to make a request at least 10 business days prior to your event via email venuesandevents@newcastle.edu.au. Please refer to each room's description for configuration options.
