CARE-P Research Bulletin
The Centre for African Research, Engagement and Partnerships (CAREP) is involved in two exciting research projects that highlight the University’s engagement priorities especially infinding practical ways to build stronger and more inclusive communities and improving the health and wellbeing of people here in our regions and around the world.
Two projects throwing bright light on theses priorities are as follows.
- CARE-P’s partnership with UON/CIFAL and other high-class Australia and African researchers to implement a cervical cancer screening intervention in Eswatini. The project received about $1.2M from the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) as part of the Global Alliance for Communicable Diseases (GACD) initiative. Laurate Professor Rob Sanson-Fisher is leading the to implement the project over 2021 to 2025.
- CARE-P working together with partners from the University of Western Australia’s Africa Research Centre (AfREC) and researchers from the University of Western Australia (UWA), Swinburne University of Technology, The University of Melbourne and Monash University to study “The Political and Economic Agency of Africans in Australia”. The project received $435,304 from the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Discovery Project program to conduct the study. A/Prof. Farida Fozdar from the University of Western Australia is leading the team to implement the study from 2021 to 2023.
