The paradox of Australia’s response to COVID-19
A new report has found that the agile stability embedded in Australia’s health care state was ultimately responsible for the nation’s high vaccination rates.
Australia was viewed as one of the leading countries in the world regarding early responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, however the country’s crisis management stalled at the next stage, with some of the lowest vaccination rates in the OECD in mid-2021.
By the end of 2021, Australia’s vaccination rates were comparatively high, and a team of researchers, including Professor Francesco Paolucci from The University of Newcastle’s Business School, have examined the complex and often competing relationships that brought about this situation.
