Workshops for researchers
UON is facilitating three workshops focused on strategic approaches to publication, self-promotion, and scholarly writing.
The Strategic Researcher
Are you wanting to get a grant, but not sure how to approach it strategically? Do you find it hard to achieve the publication outputs?
This workshop will look at:
- managing your time in a busy research environment
- publishing strategically
- linking publications to grants
- increase productivity, motivation and accountability
This 3-hour workshop is scheduled for Tuesday 24 June.
Turbocharge Your Writing
Would you like to know the secret to high output, high quality, scholarly writing?
This workshop will help you to understand:
- why it can be hard to get started
- why snack writing is generally more productive than binge writing
- how to set achievable goals
- how to clarify your thinking and improve the quality of your work
This 3-hour workshop is scheduled for Wednesday 25 June.
Shameless Self Promotion
As well as being clever and working hard, you also need to be able to promote yourself.
This workshop will look at:
- asking for what you want
- using convincing language
- networking, mentoring and collaborating
- media and other methods to communicate
This 3-hour workshop is scheduled for Thursday 26 June.

Interested staff who are unable to attend will be able to access recordings of the sessions via the Staff Career Development Blackboard site.
