Endeavour Scholarships 2019

The Australian Government has recently opened applications for the 2019 Endeavour Leadership Program. Over a period of four years, the Endeavour Leadership Program (ELP) will provide funding of up to $118.9 million and an additional $20 million to support inbound and outbound mobility Leadership Activities.

The funds awarded can be used  for the purpose of undertaking research, postgraduate study (coursework or research) or professional development and also support international applicants to undertake short and long term study, research and professional development opportunities in Australia.

The Government's long term aim of the Endeavour Leadership Program is to continue to build upon Australia’s reputation for excellence and innovation in the fields of education and research and to develop long term global links between individuals, organisations and countries.

The 2019 Endeavour Leadership Program has a new look and differs from the previous iteration of Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships:

The Individual Leader Awards (formerly Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships) primarily target postgraduate and postdoctoral applicants:

For Australian citizens - the following activities to be undertaken internationally:

  • Postgraduate - long term leadership activity to contribute towards an Australian masters, or HDR or postdoctoral research for a period of up to 2 years;
  • Research – short term leadership activity to contribute towards  Australian masters, HDR or postdoctoral research for a period of   4 – 6 months;
  • Executive – professional development for a period of 1 – 4 months

For International applicants - the following activities to be undertaken in Australia:

  • Postgraduate - Australian masters or HDR for a period of up to 4 years (for a HDR);
  • Research – short term research towards an overseas masters, HDR or postdoctoral research for a period of 4 – 6 months;
  • Vocational Education and Training -  Australian diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree for a period of up to 2.5 years;
  • Executive – professional development for a period of 1 – 4 months

The Department of Education and Training is responsible for the administration of these funding opportunities with applications closing at 11:59 pm (Australian Eastern Standard time) on the 15 November 2018.

Refer to page 13 of the ELP Guidelines for the shortlisting criteria that will be used to assess the individual applications.
