The Educator Network is a key initiative of the NeW Education Framework, established by Professor Darrell Evans, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

“The primary goal of the Showcase was to bring educators together and highlight the importance of learning and teaching at UON,” Darrell said.

The new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alex Zelinksy AO, joined the session and spoke to the group about the importance of educating our students to be lifelong learners.

Alex spoke of his desire to see the University of Newcastle known for educating ethical experts, who are T-shaped professionals – ie. their depth of discipline knowledge is combined with cross discipline skills that prepare them to work with others.

The event was an opportunity to formally award the DVC(A) Educator Innovation and Impact Awards to the seven successful teams and individuals. These awards recognise discrete, individual innovations or adaptations in learning and teaching that have resulted in improved learning experiences for our students.

The Educator Network was established to promote collaboration, innovation and excellence. Future Showcase events will be scheduled in 2019.
