Another Gold Award for our Annual Report

Thursday, 19 July 2018

The University of Newcastle’s 2016 Annual Report recently won a coveted Gold Award at the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA).

The awards provide us with a great opportunity to benchmark our reporting against some of the best in the business.

University Secretary and Chief Governance Officer, David Cantrick-Brooks, commented on our Gold Award win.

“A huge vote of thanks goes to key stakeholders from across the University who collaborated on this project.

“Receiving a Gold Award from the ARA, our second in-a-row, is a tremendous achievement particularly given that only two universities have reached gold status since the awards were established in 1950.”

Reports must reflect and satisfy ARA judging criteria and global best practice in disclosure, creative communication and stakeholder engagement. Feedback from the judging panel highlighted the strength of our planning, prioritisation and evidence-based reporting:

“Includes excellent introductory summaries; a comprehensive review of operations;
good exception reporting; and strong evidence of planning and prioritisation.”

Publishing our Report marks an important strategic, financial and operational compliance milestone for the University, while promoting and celebrating the achievements of our students and staff.
