Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) Launched
The Newcastle Business School launched its new Executive Master of Business Administration
On 15 October, the Newcastle Business School launched the new Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program, in partnership with NIB Health Funds in Sydney. This event was attended by over 50 stakeholders including potential students, employers, UON Alumni and Community members. Participants were from a number of different organisations which included: Travelex, St Vincent De Paul, Dell Technology, PwC, NIB, Apple, the Department of Justice and many more.
Participants heard from a panel of experts, featuring Vice-Chancellor Professor Alex Zelinsky AO, Executive MBA Director Professor Julia Connell, and Director of the NSW Cyber Security Network Todd Williams who shared their insights on the topic of 'Cybersecurity in a Digitally Changing Environment'. This topic, which will feature in one of the EMBA courses to be offered in 2020, provided attendees with a taste of the innovative, business-engaged approach that will be the hallmark of the new EMBA program.
The EMBA is a practice-oriented, postgraduate business degree, which will be delivered in intensive mode at the UON Sydney Campus in 2020. Designed to ensure that busy professionals can gain an executive-focussed postgraduate qualification, candidates will be working in mid to high-level management positions. It is anticipated that they will be seeking to build a strong network with other like-minded professionals, while broadening the knowledge-base needed to take their career to the next level. The WIL assessment focus enables candidates to co-design their assignments with academics and workplace sponsors enabling them to apply knowledge gained to the challenges/growth areas applicable to their workplaces.
The launch was highly successful, and it is anticipated will further strengthen The University of Newcastle brand in Sydney and beyond. For further information about the EMBA see: www.newcastle.edu.au/emba.
