These awards celebrate research excellence, engagement, and impact across diverse fields—reflecting our School’s commitment to academic integrity, innovation, and real-world influence.
Early Career Researcher Award - Dr. Haoning “Alice” Xi
Dr. Xi has been recognised with the Early Career Researcher Award for her outstanding contributions to advancing transportation research through AI and optimisation. The Selection Committee commended Alice for her sustained record of research excellence, engagement, and impact.
Alice’s work combines scholarly rigour with real-world application—informing national and global transport policy, collaborating with major infrastructure partners, and shaping mobility planning for future urban needs. Alice’s dedication to research excellence and collaboration continues to enhance the reputation of Newcastle Business School and inspire peers across the academic community.

Research Engagement and Translation Award - Dr. Caitlin Mollica
Dr. Mollica has been awarded the Research Engagement and Translation Award in recognition of her outstanding achievements in translating research into meaningful social outcomes. Her work exemplifies how rigorous scholarship can inform policy, strengthen community partnerships, and create tangible change.
The Selection Committee particularly noted Caitlin’s leadership in youth inclusion and peacebuilding initiatives, demonstrating the power of research to advance equity, education, and collaboration. Her continued contributions reflect the School’s mission to produce research that both deepens understanding and delivers real-world impact.

Higher Degree Researcher Award - Yanjun (Michelle) Sui
Michelle has received the Higher Degree Researcher Award for her excellence in research and her valuable contributions to the vibrancy of the Higher Degree Research community at Newcastle Business School.
Michelle’s research is distinguished by its scholarly rigour and innovation, advancing knowledge within her field while fostering collaboration and peer support within the HDR community. Her commitment to excellence and collegiality embodies the values of the School and highlights the strength of its research culture.
