The funding will see 19 places created for women working with our industry partners – Honeysuckle Health, Camplify, Image Cloud and Newcastle Permanent – to study a Diploma of IT or Diploma of Data Analytics.

Associate Professor Karen Blackmore said the funding will help provide a boost to the opportunities for women to study and build careers in STEM.

“The University is thrilled to receive this funding from the Federal Government. We know that women are underrepresented in STEM careers, but it is these professions that will help us solve some of our universal challenges in years to come.

“Providing access to study and gain employment in STEM fields is a critical issue for equity, and this program is one step towards helping to provide more opportunity outcomes for women in STEM.”

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alex Zelinsky welcomed the funding announcement, which will see the University collaborate with our industry partners to ensure participants succeed in their studies.

“Our University is No.1 in Australia for industry collaboration. We need more women studying and working in STEM industries and we are lucky to have a wonderful network of partner organisations willing to support their female staff to undertake study towards a career in STEM as part of this program.

“These new places add to our number of pathways into our University, which include our Diploma programs, Open Foundation and Post-Grad courses for those people looking to advance or change their careers. If you are interested in studying, there is an option and a place for you at our University.”
