Tackling Medical Waste in Hospitals & Beyond
At the John Hunter Hospital's Health Innovation Living Lab, medical staff and students gathered to better understand Sustainability Development Goal 12.5, which is to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse by 2030. In particular, this expert panel was focused on discussing the vast waste generation in medical facilities, the reasons why and what existing innovations or strategies are building in this area.

Working with disruptors on the world's most impactful innovations
The I2N Community welcomed Liam Manning, the Co-Founder of SAPHI, for June’s edition of startup stories. Liam told his story coming from Dubbo and studying at the University of Newcastle, where he met SAPHI’s co-founders who were also from country backgrounds. Liam continued through SAPHI’s journey, who are now a team of emerging technology experts living their vision every day 'Working with disruptors on the world's most IMPACTFUL innovations'.

New use for a lung scanning test to benefit severe asthma patients
Hunter respiratory researchers have found a new application for a lung scanning test that was first trialled at John Hunter Hospital in 2017.
