Working with disruptors on the world's most impactful innovations

Thursday, 13 June 2024

The I2N Community welcomed Liam Manning, the Co-Founder of SAPHI, for June’s edition of startup stories. Liam told his story coming from Dubbo and studying at the University of Newcastle, where he met SAPHI’s co-founders who were also from country backgrounds. Liam continued through SAPHI’s journey, who are now a team of emerging technology experts living their vision every day 'Working with disruptors on the world's most IMPACTFUL innovations'.

Working with disruptors on the world's most impactful innovations

Despite starting from ground 0 with no investment, connections, or business acumen, SAPHI are now the chosen innovators for an array of global giants in mining, heavy industry, and clean tech. Some notable mentions of past projects include the world's first fully mechanised underground explosive delivery system, drone systems for creating mangrove forests in the Middle East to the world’s first outdoor microclimate control project, tasked with combating urban heat in Western Sydney.

Top Takeaways

  • Validation gateways- is there a need, does the concept meet expectations and is the client truly willing to commit to purchase the outcome?
  • Share far and wide- ideas are guaranteed to stall if you don’t share them- how else will you learn what is valuable?
  • Efforts will compound and dots will align- investment in skills and insights from previous work examples can be transferred into future projects.

Thank you very much to Liam Manning from SAPHI for joining I2N’s Startup stories.
