A gift of guidance and connection
Year 4 and 5 JMP Medicine students have gifted a meaningful artwork by local artist Tami Lee to the Department of Rural Health, symbolising guidance, learning and connection throughout their time in Tamworth.
As Year 4 and 5 Joint Medical Program (JMP) students came to the end of their year-long placement in Tamworth, they left behind a meaningful gift to the Department of Rural Health — a beautiful piece of artwork by local artist Tami Lee.
Created to represent guidance through learning and connection, the artwork reflects the experiences of students throughout their time in the region and the relationships they build with educators, health professionals, fellow students and the local community.
The artwork was gifted by the students as a gesture of appreciation at the conclusion of their placement year, providing a lasting reminder of their time learning and living in Tamworth.

The gift also marked an important milestone for the Year 5 students, who completed their medical studies and progressed to their intern year in 2023, while Year 4 students continued into their final year of the JMP.
The Department of Rural Health thanks the students for their thoughtful contribution and for leaving behind a piece of art that celebrates the connections, learning and experiences that are at the heart of rural medical education.
