UON ranks in top 250 global universities in THE world rankings
The University of Newcastle (UON) is delighted to be recognised as one of the top 250 global universities in the prestigious 2016-17 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
Today’s achievement follows the release of the highly-regarded QS World University Rankings earlier this month, when UON also moved into the world’s top 250 universities.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Caroline McMillen, said UON’s strong performance in the THE ranking, on the back of the QS performance, confirms that the University of Newcastle is a world class institution on an upward trajectory.
“These outstanding results are a reflection of our continued commitment to excellence in education, research and innovation,” Professor McMillen said.
“We are proud to be recognised as a global research-intensive university distinguished by our commitment to equity and excellence and to creating a better future for our regions through a focus on innovation and impact.”
UON has consistently improved its global standing in the THE World University Rankings, rising more than 50 places in the last five years.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings evaluate universities worldwide across five areas – teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.
