Spending countless hours searching for reliable sources, citing them accurately, and managing your reference list?
The Lean Library plugin is a tool designed to make it easier for students and researchers to access academic resources online.
Here’s how it works:
- It’s an add-on for your web browser (like Chrome or Firefox). You install it just like any other extension.
- When you visit a website with academic content (like a journal article or an e-book), the plugin checks if you have access to that content through the University of Newcastle Library.
- If you have access, the plugin will let you open the content directly. If you don’t, it may show you alternative ways to access it, such as Open Access.
- The plugin often includes features to help you generate citations in formats like APA or MLA directly from the resources you’re viewing, making it easy to copy and use in your research.
- Quickly check references or any website text: Using the Highlight and search feature, instantly perform a Library search for any text you find online.
Overall, Lean Library helps you save time by connecting you directly to resources without having to search for them on your library’s website every time.
How can I get it?
- Library devices: Already pre-installed.
- Personal and staff devices: Download and install the browser extension. You can find full instructions on our Knowledge Base.
