Laptops and Equipment

The Library provides a range of computers, laptops, and equipment to support University of Newcastle students and visitors to assist your study needs.

  • Computers: Available for use throughout the Library. Log in using your student or staff ID and password.
  • Connecting your own laptop: Use the Library's wireless facilities and wired access docking stations to connect your personal device to the network. Visitors can connect to the internet via the UON_Guest or the eduroam network.
  • Power and Study Space: The Library provides powered desks and outlets in all study areas

Borrowing a laptop

The Library provides Dell Latitude laptops for loan to University of Newcastle undergraduate students.

Booking a Laptop

To ensure a laptop is ready for you, you can reserve one in advance via Library Search:

  1. Select your location to see available laptops;
  2. Click the 'Place request or join the waitlist' button (Make sure you are signed in).
  3. You will receive a notification when your laptop is ready for collection at the Library Service Zone.

Alternatively, you can search 'Laptop' in Library Search and filter by 'Held by Library'.

Collection and Loan Period

  • Laptops can be collected from the Service Zones at all of the Library locations
  • Laptops can be taken from the library for student use for 7 days with 1 renewal. The laptop must be returned to the same location from which it was borrowed.
  • Fines for late return and replacement costs apply to laptops
  • The Library provides powered desks and outlets in all study areas.
