2024 Creative in Residence Success
The University of Newcastle Library’s Inaugural 2024 Creative in Residence program successfully concluded in November 2024. The selected playwright, Dr Carl Caulfield, was awarded a $10,000 stipend for a six month residency, funded through the generosity of the Vera Deacon Regional History Fund.
Carl’s spent months in the Special Collections Reading Room, engaging with staff and researching in our collections. His residency culminated in a completed playscript and a debut workshop performance of The Reformation of Joseph Lycett.
The University Library has established this opportunity as a biennial residency. The next round of Creative in Residence applications will be announced in March 2026.
