During my time studying an undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle, I learned to maximise the value the support services the University has on offer. With so much complexity around coming to uni, it was awesome to have the friendly faces of Student Central guiding me through the uncertainty. Now, with the shoe on the other foot, I look to replicate these positive experiences I’ve had with the students I encounter.
I was a former resident of Evatt House where the ethos was always encouraging people to get in there and have a go! I think this can be applied to all aspects of life and hope I can instil this attitude into the students I meet. I get a great deal of satisfaction in case-managing students and hope my impact can lead these students to a successful adventure at University! On a personal level, I enjoy spending time with friends, playing sport and travelling.

I have enjoyed working at the University of Newcastle for almost 10 years in various student focused roles. From my previous roles within Student Central I have had the opportunity to meet and assist students throughout all stages of their university lifecycle, from their first day on campus to their graduation day. I enjoy working with students and finding solutions to any issues or concerns they may have.
While working as a Student Hubs and Enquiries Officer in Student Central, I was very fortunate to connect with a diverse range of students and expand my knowledge of the many services the university provides.
I grew up in Newcastle and have loved living and studying here. I recently graduated with a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Newcastle and really valued the support and assistance I experienced while studying.
As a Student Progress Advisor I want to provide that same positive experience for students and help them achieve success in their university journey.

I have been fortunate to grow up on the Central Coast and complete my undergraduate studies at the University of Newcastle Ourimbah Campus. I am passionate about the opportunities and experiences the University of Newcastle has to offer and I understand from firsthand experience the transformative effects that education provides in life.
During my time as a student I actively became involved in numerous aspects of University which furthered my knowledge and understanding of the extensive range of services and experiences available to students at the University of Newcastle. I have experience across a number of student focused positions at the University of Newcastle including Peer Assisted Study Session Leader (PASS), Student Ambassador, Student Mentor and Student Hubs and Enquires Officer, all of which have fuelled my enthusiasm for providing an exceptional student experience.
I enjoy helping people and making a positive impact in the lives of others. I feel an immense sense of inspiration in seeing students overcome adversity, triumph over hurdles and grow to realise their full potential and achieve their goals. My focus as a Student Progress Advisor is ensuring students are engaged, supported and equipped to excel in their endeavours along with helping students overcome any challenges and navigate their journey towards academic, social, personal and professional success.

I have been working within the University sector for over nine years at different institutions in various departments including Student Enquiries and Information, Assessments and Graduations. I started at the University of Newcastle in 2016 on the Ourimbah campus in the Program Advice team providing specialist knowledge for a suite of programs and assisting students with progression advice in these programs.
I enjoy helping students navigate through their degrees and aim to simplify things that can be seen as daunting to minimise stress and anxiety by providing student support with a calm demeanour.
On a personal note, I enjoy film, music, playing the guitar, cooking, watching sport and spending time with family.

I have enjoyed working at the University of Newcastle for over 15 years, with most of this time spent working in the International Office assisting international students. During the past 3 years I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work in Student Central as a Student Progress Advisor.
I grew up in Newcastle and love living here with my family. I also studied here at the university, and completed an Honours degree in psychology. I am passionate about university education and the opportunities that it provides to students.
As a Student Progress Advisor I am privileged to meet students from all walks of life, and enjoy working together with students to solve issues and create tailored plans for success on their student journey.

I gain great job satisfaction and pleasure from assisting individuals to realise their dream of commencing University, supporting them through their degree and seeing their excitement when they pass a course and progress to graduation.
I have recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration in which I experienced firsthand what it is like to be a student at UON by distance, plus work part time and be a busy Mum. During my study I made full use of all the wonderful learning resources offered to assist my journey and can draw on this experience when working with students to create an individualised plan to success.
I genuinely enjoy talking to students either face to face, online or by phone and truly believe that 'no question is a stupid question'. So please contact us if you need support whilst navigating your path through study, we are here to help.

I recently graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and have worked at the University of Newcastle all throughout my degree in different roles within student central. All of this means that by now I have a pretty good understanding of the university and what it is like to be a student firsthand. I can use my experience to help you with what to do next if getting through your study gets difficult. I want to ensure that students can successfully navigate the university and have an enjoyable and memorable experience along the way. My favourite part of the year is attending the graduation ceremonies and watching people cross the finish line across the stage of the Great Hall. My goal is to have as many students that I meet be successful in their studies and get their testamur at the end while having a good time.
I really enjoy meeting students from all backgrounds and walks of life to hear their stories, so I am more than happy to meet you and have a chat. I am also an ALLY member and offer friendly, non-judgmental assistance to all students. Remember, there is no problem too big or too small; I will always assist in any way possible. My studies in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Newcastle opened up rich opportunities to me. During my studies I was fortunate to study a semester abroad in Northern Ireland and spend time as the convenor for the Queer Collective. This role and being part of the ALLY network makes me aware of the specific challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ students and open to learning from these diverse experiences. I am passionate about helping students to succeed in whatever their goals may be and to help them access experiences and knowledge that empowers them.
Commencing study at university is an exciting time for new students but it can be daunting too, especially for international students. Having studied overseas myself I understand what it feels like to be far away from home, and the difference that a friendly face can make. As a Student Progress Advisor I am excited to meet with you to plan how you can get the most out of your university experience. Over the course of my time working at the University of Newcastle I have learned that the most common path of study is rarely without challenge and change. So book an appointment and together we'll make sure you have the best university experience, whatever that may look like for you!

Whilst studying a Bachelor of Communication at the University of Newcastle I became actively involved in our university community, furthering my knowledge and understanding of the range of experiences and services available to students. I strongly believe in getting involved, seeking support and making the most of your experience. I was a UON Volunteer, Peer Mentor, and Student Ambassador. Since graduating I have worked at the University of Newcastle in various roles and hope I can share my experience with the students I meet.
I enjoy helping others and gain great satisfaction in seeing people accomplish their goals. As a past student, I know how difficult it can be to juggle university along with all that life throws at you. As a Student Progress Advisor, I aim to help and support students to ensure they have a positive and successful university experience.

After completing Open Foundation I undertook a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration and worked casually in the Student Hubs and Enquiry Centre whilst studying. I was the first in my family to study so I found utilising the support services available absolutely necessary – from counselling services to the open days and information sessions, I think everything that was available to turn up to – I was there!
I felt completely overwhelmed when I came to University and found navigating University difficult. When I sought help or advice from University staff - I always got it. That’s what I love about this place, it’s all there but sometimes it’s hard for students to find it. I love being that conduit for people, because sometimes its something simple that helps a lot. In my experience as a student and a staff member – if there is a way to help students we’ll try to find it, we are here to help!
As I’ve been working here now for nearly 10 years in mostly student facing roles, I relish the opportunity to help students find their way through their program and adjusting to University life. Getting students in touch with support services can get students through really tough times and to the end of their program. That is what it’s all about.

My UON journey began in 2010 as a student in Newstep, taking me to my current employment as a Student Progress Advisor. Along the way I completed a BA, held various positions within Student Central and zoomed around campus on a golf buggy during Graduation.
I am grateful for the opportunity to support students through their University life cycle and help them navigate the uncertainties of the real world. I feel fortunate being able to contribute to UON’s culture of care and sociability, and offer advice based on my own knowledge and experiences within the sector.
Helping students to pursue the vast opportunities offered by UON is extremely fulfilling, whether it be study abroad, joining a club or society, or simply utilising the invaluable support services available across our campuses. Students often just need encouragement or a lending hand, and as Student Progress Advisors we offer a support network to help students through life’s challenges and fulfil their own UON journey.
Personally, I love to socialise, have an ongoing travel bug and enjoy staying fit and active through soccer and exercise. I am also found frequenting the waters along the Newcastle coastline all year round.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
