Graduation documents

Your graduation documents consist of your testamur, official academic transcript and Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement (AHEGS).

These documents are all provided free upon graduating, however if you need replacement or extra copies, a processing fee will apply.  (NB extra copies of your testamur are not available.)

Printed Graduation documents delay

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak and the current stay-at-home orders in place in NSW we are currently unable to provide printed copies of graduation documents. Electronic documents can be accessed by My eQuals. We will continue to follow the NSW Health advice and will be able to provide printed documents when these orders are lifted.

Your testamur is a legal document confirming you have completed an award course at the University of Newcastle and received a qualification.

It will have your legal name - as shown on other official documents, such as a birth certificate or passport – the date your award was officially conferred, the University’s seal, as well as the signatures of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.

Official academic transcript

Your transcript details your:

  • Name
  • Student number
  • Program of study
  • Term and courses enrolled
  • The unit value of your courses
  • Marks for any courses completed
  • Grades

The Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement (AHEGS) is an Australian Government initiative designed “to make Australian qualifications recognised and renowned throughout the world”.

AHEGS describes your qualification in a clear and consistent way to potential employers and other higher education institutions, detailing:

  • Your award
  • Awarding institution
  • Your academic achievements
  • Description of the AHEGS.

You will receive a digital copy of your AHEGS during Graduation via the My eQuals system.

Replacement Official academic transcript or AHEGS

An official academic transcript or paper copy of your AHEGS may be purchased at any time through the online Student Payment system.

Replacement Testamur

If your testamur has been lost or damaged, or you have changed your name, you may request a replacement for a fee of $150.

Because it is a legal document, you will be required to complete a Statutory Declaration and provide any additional supporting documentation which verifies why you require a replacement.

You will also be required to return your testamur before a new one can be provided if:

  • It has been damaged.
  • You are replacing it due to a name change.

A digital copy of your replacement testamur will also be made available to you via the My eQuals system.

For further information, please contact Graduation.
