Documentation

Upon completion of your studies each graduate is issued a set of Graduation Documentation in digital and printed form. Your graduation documents consist of your testamur, official academic transcript and Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement (AHEGS).

Graduation documents

Your testamur is a legal document confirming you have completed an award at the University of Newcastle and received a qualification.

It will have your legal name - as shown on other official documents, such as a birth certificate or passport – the date your award was officially conferred, the University’s seal, as well as the signatures of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.

Your transcript details your:

  • Name
  • Student number
  • The name of your award
  • The date it was awarded and officially conferred
  • Program of study
  • Term and courses enrolled
  • The unit value of your courses
  • Marks for any courses completed
  • Grades.

The Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement (AHEGS) is an Australian Government initiative designed “to make Australian qualifications recognised and renowned throughout the world”.

AHEGS describes your qualification in a clear and consistent way to potential employers and other higher education institutions, detailing:

  • Your award
  • Awarding institution
  • Your academic achievements
  • Description of the AHEGS

You will receive a digital copy of your AHEGS during Graduation via the My eQuals system.
