Accessibility Award - Criteria
Awarded to an individual or team who have made an outstanding contribution to demonstrating excellence in accessible practice, supporting the equitable opportunity and meaningful inclusion of students or staff with disability at The University of Newcastle.
Nominees must demonstrate excellence in one of the following (up to 500 words):
- Innovation in the development and utilisation of inclusive teaching and learning practice, curricula, projects or initiatives that foster accessibility
- Disability allyship through advocacy and action to address accessibility barriers
- Championing of accessibility and inclusion through promotion or education
- Advancement in the prioritisation and representation of people with disability
Nominations should clearly state which one of the above criteria aligns to their nomination.
Nominations must discuss the impact the activity has had in enhancing the accessibility of the University’s environments, systems or behaviours benefiting students and or staff with disability. For example, what process was created, how many people were impacted, or what change was brought about. All activity mentioned must be in excess of what would be expected in the normal performance of the nominee's duties. Academic and professional staff are eligible for nomination.
