What is Lucid?

Lucid is a visual collaboration platform available to all staff and students in Canvas. Our Lucid access includes Lucidchart and Lucidspark.

Lucidspark

Lucidspark is a collaborative virtual whiteboard designed for brainstorming and team collaboration. It allows users to create and share ideas in a visual, interactive space.

Lucidchart

Lucidchart is a diagramming application that helps users create flowcharts, diagrams, and various other visual representations of complex information. It’s widely used for process mapping, organisational charts, and more.

How to access Lucid

Access Lucid through your Canvas site to be added to the free Educational plan.

For Staff:

  1. Click Lucid in the course menu
  2. If it is your first time using Lucid, Lucid will ask if you have students younger than 13 years old in your course, respond and click Next
  3. Select the Sign Up option
  4. Click Continue
  5. Click Get Started
  6. Click Grant Access
  7. Click Explore Lucid

For Students:

  1. Click Lucid in the course menu
  2. If it is your first time using Lucid, Lucid will ask if you are older than 13 years of age, respond and click Next
  3. Select the Sign Up option
  4. Click Continue
  5. Click Grant Access
  6. Click Get Started
  7. Click Explore Lucid

Note: If you would like to log in directly to Lucid you need to first set up your account in Canvas, then go to https://lucid.app/users/login and click Forget Password. Once you have set a password using the Forget Password link, you can log in directly to Lucid in future. If you have not initiated your account in Canvas in this first instance, the Forget Password option will not work.
