STEM Club

STEM Club was launched in 2022 and provides a unique after-school opportunity for children to explore STEM via hands-on learning. Children forge new friendships, connect with the University, and deepen their understanding of STEM beyond what they are exposed to at school.

Our STEM programs are designed for students ages 8-12 (Years 3-6) to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through fun, hands-on activities and interactive games. Held as a 5-week after-school program each term, our workshops cover engaging topics like Forensic Science, Makey Makey, Coding & Robotics, and Chemistry. We also offer in-school sessions for homeschool students if numbers permit.

In late 2024, we were awarded funding from the Australian Government's Maker Projects: Community STEM engagement Grants to offer STEM Club activities beyond the University of Newcastle. Over the next two years, we are partnering with Lake Macquarie Libraries to deliver SMART Squad, providing opportunities for young people in the Lake Macquarie region to engage with STEM.
