SMART Program

Established in 1998 by the University of Newcastle, SMART is a non-profit initiative under the College of Engineering, Science and Environment (CESE). Aligned with the Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC), SMART offers a variety of programs aimed at inspiring students to explore future careers in science and engineering. These interactive and entertaining science shows are designed to support curriculum requirements and educational outcomes. Funding for our SMART program comes from industry partnerships, grants, and fee-based services.

Our SMART Science Shows and STEM workshops are delivered in primary schools, as well as community venues and the University of Newcastle campus. We’re proud to bring our science shows to life and to partner with a range of events and programs across NSW.

Through these diverse activities, SMART brings science and technology to life, inspiring curiosity, learning, and innovation in STEM.
