Experiment Fest

Students measuring chemicals in a Chemistry session

For the more than 20 years, the University of Newcastle has been working with local high schools to provide authentic, engaging, and hands-on experiences for HSC students.

For those studying Stage 6 Science, Experiment Fest is the chance to improve laboratory skills and use specialised equipment that isn't readily available in regular classrooms, while conducting experiments that directly relate to the HSC syllabus in the areas of;

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Earth and Environmental Science
  • Physics

Experiment Fest 2022

After a 2-year pause to Experiment Fest, we resumed in 2022 welcoming over 700 students back into our laboratories. Students gained experience within their area of study from the disciplines of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology and in 2022 we introduced interactive sessions from the disciplines of Environmental and Earth Sciences, and Food Science and Human Nutrition.
