Australian Government Data and Digital Cadet Programs
As part of the Australian Government’s Data and Digital Cadet Programs, the University of Newcastle is now host to an Australian Public Service (APS) Academy Campus location.
The Data and Digital Cadet Programs will enable students and Newcastle locals wanting a career-change to upskill in data and digital roles within the Australian Public Service (APS).
Newcastle's campus location will provide opportunities for students to earn as they learn, working as APS employees while they complete their bachelor degrees.
Students from a variety of degree programs may apply for these roles.

Students will be supported along the way by an APS Academy Campus Team Leader, professional supervisors, Australian Public Service senior staff and an Office Coordinator.
Programs on offer
The Data Cadet Program is a part-time employment opportunity until your degree is finished, then full-time.
It’s open to Australian citizens who have completed at least 1 year of a Bachelor Degree and have at least 1 year remaining.
Successful applicants will be offered a part-time role in the agency, with a remuneration package up to $60,000 plus 15.4% super.
The Digital Cadet Program is a part-time employment opportunity until your degree is finished, then full-time.
It’s open to Australian citizens who have completed at least 1 year of an ICT/technical Bachelor Degree and have at least 1 year remaining.
Successful applicants will be offered a part-time role in the agency, with a remuneration package up to $60,000 plus 15.4% super.
