Asia Pacific Forum
Leading higher education professionals, governments and businesses in the Asia Pacific have arrived in Newcastle to connect and collaborate at The 13th Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) Learning and Sharing Forum, which will facilitate discussion on major global and regional opportunities, challenges and trends in higher education.
Hosted by The University of Newcastle, the Forum will occur over two days from 6-7 December and feature a keynote address on The New Colombo Plan, a signature initiative of the Australian Government, delivered by Senator the Honourable Dr Brett Mason, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
"The New Colombo Plan is intended to deepen relationships with the Asia Pacific region, both at the individual level and through expanding university, business and other stakeholder links," said Vice-Chancellor, Professor Caroline McMillen.
"A close partnership between governments, universities and business will support the realisation of this important initiative," she said.
Featuring dynamic panel sessions and insightful keynote addresses, the Forum will feature experts like Laureate Professor John Aitken, Pro Vice-Chancellor Faculty of Health and Medicine, University of Newcastle and 2012 NSW Scientist of the Year, who will discuss the power of Collaboration in Research.
"This important event provides networking opportunities to foster rich cooperation and collaboration between partners in education across the Asia Pacific region," said Professor McMillen.
Delegates will visit the University of Newcastle Callaghan Campus and Hunter Valley Gardens as part of the Forum.
