Student engagement
The committee are passionate about engaging current and prospective First Nations students in the community! We work closely with The Wollotuka Institute to provide engagement activities to students on or off campus.
We have facilitated laboratory visits and other hands-on activities with High School groups from the local area and from more regional areas like Armidale and Tamworth.
Activities have included:
- Pharmacy webster pack making
- Microscope lab
- Learning about the DNA code
- Laboratory tours or experiment sessions
- Meeting a research scientist.
If you or your school are interested in engaging with us, please contact us at sbsp-isec@newcastle.edu.au
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
