Establishment

This scholarship has been established by SIXT Australia to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with study and on-campus accommodation costs. During their study, scholarship recipients will have access to mentorship, part-time work, and Work Integrated Learning opportunities at SIXT Australia.

Applicants for this scholarship will need to be studying one of the following eligible programs (including combined options):

  • Bachelor of Arts / Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Business
  • Bachelor of Business / Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Bachelor of Commerce

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:

  • Be enrolled in your 1st or 2nd year in any of the eligible undergraduate degree programs with the University of Newcastle (listed in scholarship description).
  • Be residing in on-campus accommodation with Student Living and remain a resident for the duration of the initial year of scholarship award.
  • Establish your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and heritage with the university as outlined here.
  • Demonstrate academic progress either by the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent required for entry for commencing students, or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 for continuing students.
  • Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.

Required Documentation

Required documents will be listed on the ‘Your Documents’ page of your application. The application portal accepts PDF only. A maximum of 3 PDF smaller than 5 MB can be added per document type upload field.

  • A personal statement (approx. 1 A4 page) outlining your academic achievements, career aspirations in the relevant area of study, and how this scholarship would assist you. This statement will cover all scholarships you are submitting for.

Benefit

The scholarship provides a total benefit of up to $30,000 to be paid over the full 4-year tenure provided ongoing eligibility for the term of the scholarship.

The scholarship will be paid in 2 x $3,750 instalments each year after the relevant census dates (usually in April and September).


Selection

Selection is a competitive process and will be based on an assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents, with reference to the eligibility criteria.
