Bottom Financial Quintile Student Success
The University of Newcastle is firmly committed to achieving equitable retention and success outcomes for all students—whether they are Indigenous; from low‑SES or regional/remote backgrounds; or have a disability.
In our Student Success Strategy, action item 2.5: Monitor participation, progress, and completion by identified student subgroups, specifically addresses low‑SES students through three key initiatives:
- 2.5.1 — Collate and review equity performance reports.
- 2.5.2 — Implement support strategies based on insights from those reports.
- 2.5.3 — Deploy a student–academic relationship system or process to strengthen connections between students and academic staff.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
