Newcastle Migration Research Network
The Newcastle Migration Research Network, with the support of the Centre for Law and Social Justice, hosted its first event on the 30th of May.
The Newcastle Migration Research Network is an interdisciplinary team of researchers at the University of Newcastle that facilitates inclusive forums for academics and practitioners to share knowledge regarding the resettlement experiences of refugees. The goal of the network is to create sustainable partnerships by supporting practitioners in achieving positive resettlement outcomes through the exchange of knowledge while also collaboratively identifying gaps in the current research.
These mutually supportive partnerships will help academics develop more robust theories regarding the resettlement experiences of refugees, improve support for refugees’ in the university, and provide contact points for resettlement organizations. The first event brought academics, university project officers, HDR students, and community practitioners together to identify areas of future collaboration. If you are interested in learning more about the network, or participate in future events, please contact Alice Neikirk.
