Outstanding community members celebrated in 2025 Australia Day Honours
The University of Newcastle extends its congratulations to all recipients who have been recognised in the 2025 Australia Day Honours, particularly celebrating those that make up a growing and important part of our University community.
University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Alex Zelinsky AO, congratulated recipients who were recognised in the awards.
“I am deeply proud of our students, staff, alumni, donors and wider network of our University community who were recognised in this year’s Australia Day Honours,” Professor Zelinsky said.
“Our alumni are making a difference in our community and around the world and it is with immense appreciation that I extend my congratulations for everyone who has been recognised this year.”
“This recognition is a true testament to their ongoing commitment to improving our communities and nation”.
Emeritus Professor Lyndall Ryan AM, FAHA was posthumously recognised with an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).
“The loss of Professor Ryan was profound, not only for our University of Newcastle community but also for the many communities with that she worked over the course of her remarkable career as an activist, scholar, feminist and educator so it is heartening to see her receive this recognition," said Professor Zelinsky.
