World class graduates celebrate culmination of studies
Marking years of academic commitment, more than 2800 proud University of Newcastle students will celebrate the culmination of their studies during the April graduation ceremonies, which begin today.
University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Caroline McMillen, said the University was delighted to celebrate this defining moment in the academic journey of its graduates.
“Graduation is an opportunity to pay tribute to the remarkable achievement of our graduates and reflect on years of hard work and commitment. We watch proudly as our graduates embark on the next exciting phase of their lives, joining an outstanding global alumni network to make their mark on the world locally and globally,” Professor McMillen said.
Professor McMillen said graduates had made a valuable investment in their future and would join the workforce with the benefit of a degree from one of the world’s top one per cent of universities.
“Our standing in the global rankings reflects the University’s focus on excellence and our graduates carry with them the hallmarks of innovation, quality and a passion for lifelong learning. Our graduates are equipped with a world-class education to confidently navigate a career in their chosen field,” Professor McMillen said.
On Thursday 5 April and Friday 6 April more than 1570 students will graduate from the faculties of Engineering and Built Environment, Health and Medicine, and Science.
On Thursday 12 April and Friday 13 April, more than 1250 students will graduate from the Faculty of Education and Arts, Faculty of Business and Law, Enabling Programs and International College.
All ceremonies will take place at the Great Hall, Callaghan Campus and will be available via live stream to cater for family or friends who are unable to attend.
