Prospective students who want to explore their study options at a world-class university in 2014 are invited to visit the University of Newcastle tomorrow, Thursday 19 December, for Advisory Day.
The University's Callaghan, Central Coast and Port Macquarie campuses will swing open their doors to give students information and advice, particularly if they received an ATAR higher or lower than expected.
Coinciding with the release of ATARs, Advisory Day is designed to offer information about changing preferences or alternative entry options to the University. The event is an opportunity to talk face-to-face with University staff about study options, seek help changing preferences, or obtain help with applying.
Advisory Day is particularly helpful for anyone with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) higher or lower than expected. A higher ATAR than expected may open up a new range of opportunities across the University's programs, and applicants may wish to change their preferences or explore different degrees and career paths. A lower ATAR than anticipated can be disappointing, but University staff will be available to help applicants with alternative entry pathways and other study options.
As Australia's largest provider of enabling programs, the University of Newcastle, ranked in the top 3% of the universities in the world, according to two global independent ranking systems*, has the support in place to help talented and motivated students from all walks of life gain entry to university and do well.
At Advisory Day, prospective students can learn more about Newstep - a tertiary preparation course offered by the University - at an information session, and visitors can also explore the campuses on guided tours led by our students.
Prospective students have until Friday 4 January 2013 to change their preferences for consideration in UAC's Main Round offers, which will be released at 9pm on Thursday 16 January 2013. An early round of offers will be made on January 3 to students who have participated in the UON High ATAR Guarantee Scheme based on an ATAR above 90.
A second Advisory Day will be held at all University campuses on Friday 17 January after the release of Main Round offers.
