2020 was an extraordinary year in so many ways and yet your compassion, kindness and community spirit remained constant. Our amazing community gave the highest amount of philanthropic support in the University’s history to assist students, researchers and community programs at the University of Newcastle.

We are very grateful to our generous community of alumni, community members and staff who give through the University to make a positive difference in the world. You helped us keep the brightest minds in the Hunter and funded breakthroughs in research areas such as children’s brain cancer treatment and ovarian cancer detection. Thanks to your generosity, 335 students were supported through philanthropically-funded scholarships – more than ever before – and the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students supported in their education journey was also the highest to date. You also supported vital community health programs and contributed to the University’s community radio station, 2NURFM.

You can find out more about the real difference your generosity has made in our Review of the Year. We hope you enjoy being part of our community of donors and proud of the lives you are changing through your kindness.
