Inspiring Indigenous Students

Saturday, 1 September 2018

The University of Newcastle Science and Engineering Challenge has welcomed two new Indigenous STEM ambassadors thanks to generous crowdfunding donations.

Indigenous STEM Ambassadors

With relatively few Indigenous role models in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), it is hoped that Bryce Adamson and Thomas Levick will inspire more Indigenous students to explore the creative side of STEM; and go on to pursue careers in science and engineering.

The Challenge is a nationwide STEM outreach program led by the University of Newcastle in conjunction with a number of partners and sponsors. The ambassadors have already been hard at work at Challenge Days, helping to reinforce the connection between culture and pathways for Indigenous students to succeed in STEM at school and university.
