Celebrating our work-ready graduates
Providing meaningful, hands on workplace experience that enhances the employability of its graduates, is a key focus of our University.
Bachelor of Business/Innovation and Entrepreneurship graduate and current Master of Human Resources and Law student, Alex, demonstrates the value of gaining the essential workplace skills that helped him build on the knowledge and skills of his degree.
During his studies, Alex participated in six unique Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experiences. Alex believes that by embracing these opportunities, along with other extra-curricular industry engagement, he has fast tracked his global success.
These Work Integrated Learning experiences informed a much higher level of learning during my undergraduate degree, allowing me to refine my approach to solving real-time business challenges and deliver quantifiable value to the organisation.”
Alex believes he developed important employability skills through WIL and identifies critical thinking, problem solving and stakeholder management as just some of the areas in which he developed confidence and competence. He also feels the opportunity to work specifically on real-world projects provided the essential challenges to help him build these skills.
Like all productive working relationships, the organisations Alex worked with also benefited from these experiences. Alex provided NSW Health Pathology with an end-to-end recruitment and workforce management strategy, targeting ‘new generation’ worker requirements. At Varley, Alex delivered a range of HR digitisation programs. Alex also knows that his experiences were guided by supportive industry partners with the framework for meaningful engagement facilitated by academic staff from our University.
I would strongly advocate for all students to undertake WIL. These experiences have specifically helped me to get where I am today and ultimately shaped my professional career.”
Join us in celebrating the professional learning experiences and partnerships that prepare our students for success. Shine the spotlight on a student, staff or industry member by nominating them for an Employability Excellence Award. Self-nominations are welcome.
