Alumni volunteers helping to share the future

There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about. Two alumni volunteers helping to shape the future at the University of Newcastle are Alumni House Ambassador Conjoint Professor Kyle Loades and iLEAD Mentor Kylie Bridge.

Since the early days of the University of Newcastle, we have been passionately supported by volunteers who give their time and expertise to support our community.

Each year hundreds of alumni volunteers around the world contribute thousands of hours to projects they are passionate about. The impact of your incredible gifts of time and service to our local and global communities is immeasurable.

Conjoint Professor Kyle Loades’ passion for the University of Newcastle is contagious. As an ambassador for Alumni House, he is excited to share the project vision and encourage as many people as possible to get involved.

“When I studied at the University of Newcastle, building connections with fellow students and staff was equally important to what I learned. Alumni House is an extension of that, providing a conduit for lifelong learning and connection. It’s an honour to share the vision and promote all the good it will do for alumni and the broader community.”

I encourage every alum to get involved in supporting Alumni House to see it built, stay connected and reap the benefits for many years to come.”

Meanwhile iLEAD mentor Kylie Bridge enjoys sharing her wisdom and experience as a people and culture business leader with students studying business. She values the opportunity to stay connected to the University and return the support she received during her degree.

“Giving back as an alumna not only helps the University enrich students’ lives but it also keeps me grounded. I learn just as much as the mentees as we talk about some of the same and different challenges that I have worked through during my studies and career.”

It is rewarding to see mentees grow and know that I have helped them on their leadership journey.”
