Purai Members recognised in College Excellence Awards

Purai Global Indigenous History Centre congratulates five of its members for being included as outstanding recipients of the College of Human and Social Futures Awards.

2021 College of Human and Social Futures Excellence Awards

Doctors Kevin Sobel-Read, Hedda Asland and Simon Weaving, and Associate Professors Kate Senior and Tamara Young collected awards in leadership, teaching excellence, global and industry engagement and student experience.

These awards acknowledge scholars who demonstrate exceptional leadership in the enhancement of College life and culture and make a significant contribution in fostering a spirit of collegiality.

The Purai recipients hale from a variety of disciplines in; business, anthropology, law, creative industries and health and wellbeing and demonstrate how global historical scholarship is enhanced by approaches from a range of disciplines.

The advantage of drawing scholars of this calibre together under the auspices of a research centre, like Purai, dedicated to harnessing collaborations, enhances the possibility of high-quality, innovative and original research projects.

The pandemic has presented unique challenges for scholars but, despite this, they have succeeded in creating positive and productive environments which encourage collaboration, mentorship, support and professional responsibility.
