OPINION: Women's rights may outweigh Zoe's Law

The perceived threat is that Zoe's Law would have women's right to access abortion services endangered. The fear is an unborn child's value would trump a women's right to abort a possible future child. However, it looks like protecting women's rights has outweighed the benefits Zoe's Law wanted to achieve.

Zoe's Law proposed that a foetus more than 20 weeks old, or weighing more than 400 grams, would be regarded as a person when it came to charges of grievous bodily harm.
